Trinity Trails has heard that our "District Scouter Emeritus" Olan Watkins passed away today (Friday, January 27). We are still trying to fact-check details from his surviving family members. As you may be aware, his wife passed away and the end of 2011 and his son Brian died earlier this month, so the remaining family members are dealing with a very heavy burden.

Keep checking with this website and we will provide updates and details of any visitation arrangements as they are made available to us. Also we may see if some food or other assistance to the family would be welcomed.

To those of you who know Brian Watkins, the son of Olan Watkins:

I received an email today from Mike Floyd who informed me that Brian Watkins, son of Olan Watkins and Lee Watkins, who died a couple of weeks ago, died yesterday at his home. I have no details. Please watch the newspaper for any details.

I went to the viewing for Lee and was surprised that Brian was not present. His sister, Kay, was there, but I did not get a chance to talk to her. I did learn from another family member that Olan was too ill to attend, and this reason may be why Brian was not present, or I could have just missed him.

For those of you who knew Brian, this may come as a surprise. I think he was only in his early 40's, if that.

The Watkins family were very dedicated to Scouts, and it is truly sad to learn of these passings and the fragile state of Olan's health. Please keep him and his daughter, Kay, in your prayers, and excuse my relaying this sad news via email.
